Gogo Maweni’s court case delayed until after birth of twins

Gogo Maweni’s Court Case Postponed Until After Twins’ Birth

Soweto – Reality TV star and traditional healer Makhotso “Gogo Maweni” Mofokeng appeared briefly at the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where her assault case was postponed due to her high-risk pregnancy.

The case, stemming from an alleged December 2019 incident involving assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, was deferred to October 15 following submission of medical documentation. Court records indicate the 34-year-old celebrity, currently expecting twins, has required frequent hospitalization during her pregnancy.

Defense attorneys successfully argued for the adjournment, presenting physician recommendations that their client avoid travel and maintain bed rest during her remaining pregnancy term and initial postpartum recovery period.

“I’m relieved to focus on my health and my babies’ wellbeing,” Mofokeng told reporters outside court. The media personality revealed she had initially hoped to keep her pregnancy private until delivery, noting: “When the legal proceedings began, my condition became public sooner than I’d planned. Now my priority is ensuring my twins arrive safely and healthy.”

Legal analysts suggest the postponement reflects standard judicial accommodation for medical circumstances, particularly in pregnancy-related cases. The matter is scheduled to resume six weeks after Mofokeng’s expected delivery date, allowing for adequate recovery time.
