Emotional Tributes Honor Presley Chweneyagae at Memorial Service
Family, friends and colleagues gathered at Mmabatho Convention Centre on Tuesday to celebrate the life of award-winning actor Presley Chweneyagae, who passed away on May 27 at age 40.

The memorial service was filled with heartfelt tributes to the beloved “Tsotsi” star, remembered for his talent, kindness and profound impact on those around him.
Close friend and actor Rantebeng Makapan shared: “Presley had a gift for bringing people together. Seeing his family during this difficult time moved me deeply. He proved that your beginnings don’t determine your future – he came from humble roots but became extraordinary through his work and character.”

Bianca Carmichael, Chweneyagae’s sister-in-law, delivered a powerful tribute: “To the world he was a brilliant actor, but to us he was so much more – a devoted husband, loving father and cherished family member. His quiet strength, humor and warmth filled every room. While we mourn his passing, we celebrate the incredible legacy he leaves behind in both his art and the lives he touched.”
The service highlighted Chweneyagae’s remarkable career and the personal connections he fostered. From his breakout role in “Tsotsi” to his recent work, colleagues emphasized how his talent and humanity inspired generations of artists.
